Statement Concerning National Day of Mourning for President George H.W. Bush

The District of Utah joins the nation in celebrating and honoring the extraordinary public service of former President H.W. Bush.

President Trump has declared this Wednesday, December 5, 2018, a national day of mourning to honor the memory of President Bush. For this reason, all Executive Branch agencies and departments will be closed that day. The Administrative Office of the United States Courts and the United States Supreme Court will also be closed, and federal courts nationwide have been instructed to make a local decision regarding the closing of their courts. The decision of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah is to remain open on Wednesday in order to serve the needs of our community, particularly since multiple hearings have already been scheduled, and rescheduling would cause delays in those cases, which could result in the parties and/or their attorneys incurring significant expenses.

Please Note: Meetings of Creditors scheduled in Ogden for Wednesday, December 5, 2018 have been rescheduled to start at 2pm on December 19, 2018.
