Nov-20-2025

  • The United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit has appointed Michael F. Thomson to the bankruptcy bench for the District of Utah.

    Judge Thomson was previously a shareholder in the Salt Lake City office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP. He has also served as a Chapter 7 and a Chapter 11 trustee.

    Judge Thomson is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and was a board member for the Utah Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He was also a member of the Utah State Bar Association's Character & Fitness Committee and served on the Local Rules Advisory Committee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law.

    Honorable Peggy Hunt, Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Utah, administered the oath to Judge Thomson on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Judge Thomson has chambers in Salt Lake City.

  • The Court will be closed the following days in observance of Thanksgiving:

    Wednesday Nov 26th 2025 - Early Close @ 3pm
    Thursday Nov 27th 2025 - Closed all day
    Friday Dec 28th 2025 - Closed all day
