Attorneys who wish to use the Electronic Case Filing System (CM/ECF) for the District of Utah Bankruptcy Court must complete one of the following training requirements before receiving a log-in and password. Be advised, CM/ECF is used throughout the country for both U.S. District Courts and U.S. Bankruptcy Courts. You must obtain a seperate log-in and password for each court that you are an electronic filer. Please call to schedule a time from the list below:
1. Complete the 4-hour training class offered at the Courthouse by court staff. The training consists of a 4-hour hands-on session. Attorneys will earn 3.5 hours of CLE credit for their participation. Attendees will learn how to docket in the ECF program and how to navigate through the program. Please call 801-524-6575 to schedule your firm for training. Training is conducted on the 3rd floor of the Courthouse - Room 346. Take the elevator to the third floor, walk straight down the hallway, turn left at hallway past the restrooms, room 346 will be on your left side. Our parking is very limited as we no longer have the visitor's parking lot west of the building. The Wells Fargo building on the southeast corner of 400 South and Main St. does have paid parking available or we have some 2 hour meters on the north and south side of the building. Trax also has a stop on 300 South Main St. 2. Complete training offered by another CM/ECF court and/or have an ECF account with that court (this includes the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah). You will need to sign the Electronic Case Filing Protocols and Registration Forms, complete the Registration Form Checklist and fax your forms to the court at 801-526-1215. There is a practical exercise, to be obtained from the Training Department, that will need to be submitted on the court's training database. This will show that you understand the basics of CM/ECF and that you can connect to the court. Questions should be directed to the Training Department at 801-524-6575. • To obtain an ECF user account, fill out the Electronic Case Filing Protocols and Registration Forms and our Registration Form Checklist, then fax or mail the completed form to the court. Court Staff will review your application to determine if further training is necessary. If the training requirements have been met, a username and password will be issued within a few business days. Limited filers who wish to become a Utah ECF filer, should indicate on their consent form if they received ECF training and their current ECF registration status in other Federal Courts. • CM/ECF requires a computer and an Internet connection. A printer and a scanner will be extremely handy, but not required. All documents submitted to the court through CM/ECF will be in the PDF format. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read a PDF document. This application is free. You will need to purchase a copy of Adobe Acrobat to create a PDF document.
